Joshua House Ligonier is Under Construction!

Amid the most tumultuous year in recent history, the year 2020 is one where The Joshua Foundation has much to celebrate! This, the 20th anniversary of our founding, we have finally fulfilled our original vision of building The Joshua House retreat center right here in Western Pennsylvania!

Twenty years ago, I typed the following mission: “The Joshua Foundation was created in the Fall of 2000 with the specific purpose of building an interdenominational CHRISTIAN retreat house called the Joshua House. The facility was to stand for unity in the Body of Christ, a place for Christian Believers from various denominations, races, cultural and economic backgrounds to share, a place for them to use and renew and help them in their faith.”

In God’s perfect timing in the month before COVID-19 closed down our world, the Joshua Foundation Board met for an overnight retreat at Ligonier Camp and Conference Center. At that meeting we discussed and agreed that The Joshua Foundation would be a “Ministry of Place” (Read about it here) and we would build our Western Pennsylvania retreat Lodge at Ligonier Camp and Conference Center (LCCC.)

Our Future

LCCC met all the hopes for our organization’s newest lodge, it is financially strong, has great demand serving more than 8000 guests per year, it represents unity in the Body of Christ serving guests from a diverse range of Christian denominations and non-denominational churches. The biggest attribute for us was the fact that LCCC has a significant budget for campers who financially cannot afford camp and those with special needs, the campers close to Jesus’ heart.

The Joshua House at Ligonier is a great fit for LCCC because it will provide the much needed four season lodging that helps serve a demand for retreat lodging in the off season and becomes the key to how a camp that serves so many of our kids during the ten summer weeks can be financially sustainable long term.

Groundbreaking occurred this fall and the site work was completed and ready for the Joshua House to “come out of the ground” starting the spring of 2021 with a completion expected by next Winter. As part of an overall $4 million improvement project, helping fund the LCCC capital campaign is obviously a big commitment for the Joshua Foundation. The majority of the funding from The Joshua Foundation is in hand and ready to go into the construction of the Joshua Lodge, but the Joshua Foundation has to fulfill the remaining part of its commitment which is $30,000/year for the next five years. If you have been a supporter and still believe in those core values described above, and want to be part of this long term vision finally becoming a reality, please consider helping with a one-time gift or an annual pledge. May God bless you!
